During my career at such organizations as EngenderHealth and the Guttmacher Institute, I have been responsible for editing and producing training manuals, curricula, technical reports to donors, and subsidiary materials such as briefs, as well as editing journal articles and writing feature articles.

While working at EngenderHealth between 2001 and 2018, I edited a broad spectrum of materials—training guides, provider tools, research studies, and pieces disseminating information about the organization’s lessons learned and best practices. From 2006 on, I was solely responsible for producing programmatic resources for major international projects (the ACQUIRE Project, the RESPOND Project, Fistula Care, and Agir pour la Planification Familiale). I also collaborated in the development of institutional communications materials, such as brochures, web pages, and annual reports.

Before moving to EngenderHealth, I worked for 21 years at the Guttmacher Institute, as an editor on the institute’s two scientific journals, Family Planning Perspectives and International Family Planning Perspectives (now known as Perspectives on Sexual and Reproductive Health and International Perspectives on Sexual and Reproductive Health). Throughout that time, I edited articles for publication in the journals, wrote numerous digests of cutting-edge epidemiologic and demographic research appearing in other sources, and participated closely in decision making on the journals’ editorial content. From 1996 to 2001, I managed the editorial process at both journals, overseeing the editing of all content, communicating with authors about reviews and revisions, and managing staff.

I have a high level of comfort with technical materials in a variety of areas, including family planning, maternal and child health, sexually transmitted infections, sociological and demographic research, and international development.

During 2019, I have provided editorial services to such clients as the Population Council, the Guttmacher Institute, Family Planning 2020, Chemonics, and Breakthrough ACTION at Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs.

I am a member of the American Public Health Association and of the Council of Science Editors.
